Sailing, kite surfing and windsurfing

If you come to Barrow, you should at least try these thrilling water sports! Walney Channel, Earnse Bay on the west side of Walney and the coast around Roa Island are excellent areas for sailing, kite surfing and windsurfing.

There are two sailing clubs, including Roa Island Boating Club, offering regular racing for many classes of boats and sail-boards, while Cumbria's only registered Kitesurfing School, NWKS, based on Walney Island, teaches kite surfing to International Kitesurfing Organisation Level 2.

Powerboat racing

If you don’t fancy trying it you can always watch it! During the summer months Barrow's Ramsden Dock offers a popular venue for this high speed sport.
