Keep on running
This year's Keswick to Barrow Walk attracted a large turnout, now organisers of the St Mary's Hospice 5k fun run hope to see at least 500 men take part in its event on 15 August.
Calling all men – get your running shoes on for St Mary’s Hospice. On Saturday 15 August, St Mary’s Hospice will hold its first ever men only 5k fun run.
The event, which starts at 3pm, will take place at Hawcoat Park Sports Club, in Hawcoat Lane, Barrow, and is open to all males aged 15 and over, no matter what their ability.
There will be prizes for the first man home and also for the best fancy dress (which is optional but encouraged!)
St Mary’s hopes to see 500 men take part in the event to raise vital funds for the hospice.
St Mary's Hospice, in Ulverston, is BAE Systems Submarine Solutions' partner charity.
Paula Short, a Corporate Responsibility Advisor, at BAE Systems Submarine Solutions, said: “The ladies showed you how it’s done with the recent Walk to Remember, now it’s your turn, so let’s work together to help St Mary’s make this an event to remember.”
It costs £10 to register and all participants will receive a goody bag, which will include a T-shirt, medal and much more.
For those wishing to cheer on the competitors, family entertainment and refreshments will be available at the sports club.
