The submarine build involves everything from the auxiliary systems and life support to the propulsive power train and I am involved in all aspects of it.

BAE Systems’ marine design capability is focused primarily on current and projected submarine build and support programmes, although recently applications have embraced major surface warship programmes, fleet auxiliaries and commercial vessels.

Our marine design capability is at the leading edge of submarine and surface ship engineering. I have been here for one year on the graduate scheme and what a fantastic place to be. I get to work on submarines and be in one of the prettiest parts of the country. The experience on the graduate scheme is fantastic - from the work to the activities and community work I do outside of my role at BAE Systems. I love the outdoor life, especially fishing and walking - it all makes a great work life balance.
