BAE Systems Submarine Solutions is not only renowned for producing world class engineering products. As the area’s largest private sector employer, it is also known for its commitment to improving the community in which it operates.
The company has a dedicated Corporate Responsibility team, whose efforts are channelled into supporting the ongoing regeneration of Barrow-in-Furness.
Activities range from charity work and sponsorship, to lending expertise and support to schools and colleges.
Paula Short, who works on BAE Systems Submarine Solutions’ CR team, said: “Our number one focus is to work in partnership with local agencies, community leaders and other industries to support the delivery of improvements in four specific areas: education, environment, economic and social performance.”
Education is the main priority for 2009 and the Corporate Responsibility team is actively engaged in several programmes and initiatives. . . more
