Economic prosperity for BAE Systems Submarine Solutions goes way beyond the gates of the shipyard, with its success having a huge knock-on effect on the town’s economy.
Last year, through salary payments, the company contributed close to £123m to the local economy.
Working with a supply chain network incorporating more than 80 businesses within the LA postcode, it also distributed work worth tens of millions of pounds.
One of its latest initiatives was to launch a best practice group in partnership with Furness College for the local business network, with the first of these forums held earlier in the year.
